3D Scanning.

We offer 3D scanning services as a fast and accurate way of digitising physical objects for use in design, inspection, visualisation and reverse engineering. The use of 3D scanners can be applied to almost any product or structure to accurately capture the physical shape and dimensions.

At RSL, we provide a complete 3D scanning service using professional non-destructive processes. We use a metrology grade 3D laser scanner to collect highly accurate 3D Point Cloud / STL files. Because all our equipment is fully portable, we can carry out the scanning either at your own facility, or our own secure premises. Many industries use 3D Scanning from Automotive and Aerospace to Film and Archaeology, from Medical and Gas turbine to Model and Pattern making and Creative arts.

Using the right equipment for each job is critical. For most reverse engineering involving mechanical parts ranging in size from 0.1 – 4m, our metrology grade HandySCAN 700 is ideal. We can achieve an accuracy of up to 0.030mm with this scanner. For some other situations such as large architectural scanning, we may use other scanners such as the Faro Focus.

We have scanned everything from high end shotguns stocks to entire classic cars, from cylinder heads to aeroplane propellers. Whatever 3D object you need to digify, we have the tools and expertise to help. We can provide you with a free quotation for any of your 3D scanning requirements.

BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY!

3D scanning for insurance purposes - If you race a rare or vintage car it is possible that repairs will need to be made at some stage if it is crashed. Don’t wait until it’s too late! RSL can conduct a full body scan of your car which you can keep on file. Should your car get damaged, we can use the scan data to produce the bucks, formers, parts and castings needed to restore your car back to its original condition.
